Safe use
OffLadder is a thinking companion, not an authority. It is designed to help you notice possibilities, try small things, and reflect on what happens. This page explains how to use it well, what to be careful about, and when to stop reading the screen and talk to a real person.
What OffLadder is
- A coach that asks questions, suggests directions, and helps you design tiny experiments.
- A research shortcut: it can search the live web for courses, programmes, people and openings that match what you're exploring.
- A private map of what you've tried and what you've noticed, so your next step builds on the last one.
What OffLadder isn't
- It is not a qualified careers adviser, counsellor, therapist, lawyer, doctor or financial adviser.
- It is not a test that labels you. There is no final verdict on what you should become.
- It is not a replacement for talking to a trusted adult, school careers service, GP or other professional when you need one.
How to take its suggestions
- Treat every idea as a starting point to test, not a decision made for you.
- Check important facts yourself, especially deadlines, requirements, costs and contact details.
- Start small. The best suggestions are the ones you can try in 15 to 30 minutes and learn from quickly.
- Use your own judgement. If something doesn't feel right for you, it probably isn't.
Hallucinations and mistakes
OffLadder uses AI. AI can be wrong, out of date, or confidently miss context. It can invent facts, misread a source, or describe something that used to be true. We ground as much as we can in live web sources, but we cannot guarantee every link, figure or description is accurate. Always verify anything that matters before you act on it.
When to talk to a real person
- If you feel overwhelmed, anxious, unsafe, or in distress, speak to someone you trust or a local support service right away.
- Before any big life decision — leaving education, moving country, signing a contract, spending significant money, or changing your health — get advice from a qualified human.
- If a suggestion from OffLadder contradicts something a professional has told you, trust the professional and ask them about the conflict.
What to share
- Share only what you are comfortable being stored and remembered by the product.
- Never share passwords, bank details, government IDs, home addresses, or other people's private information.
- Be cautious with sensitive health, family, or legal details. The coach is not bound by professional confidentiality.
- If you wouldn't say it to a stranger in a coffee shop, don't type it here.
Data, memory and training
OffLadder stores your conversations and answers so the coach can remember you across sessions. We don't use your data to train our own models, and we ask the AI providers we route through not to train on your end-user messages. You can delete your account and conversation history at any time. Read the Privacy notice for the full picture.
Keeping the platform safe
- OffLadder is for ages 13 and up.
- The coach will refuse to engage with sexual, violent, hateful, abusive or otherwise harmful content.
- Abusive or inappropriate messages are not stored as memories.
