What OffLadder is
OffLadder is a free career exploration tool for people who don't know what to do next. It gives you directions worth exploring and small real-world experiments to test them, instead of a personality label.
Built for a world where AI is changing jobs faster than traditional career advice can keep up.
Why it exists
Career advice mostly assumes you already know what you want, and then helps you get it. The people who need help most are the ones who do not know: the fifteen year old choosing subjects, the twenty two year old who did the sensible degree, the forty year old who is fine at their job and quietly certain they do not want twenty more years of it.
The usual products for those people hand out a label. A personality type, a Holland code, a list of matching job titles. A label describes you. It does not tell you what the work feels like in your hands, and it cannot, because that is something you only learn by doing a bit of it.
AI makes this worse and more urgent at the same time. Nobody honestly knows which jobs will exist in ten years, so betting everything on a prediction is a bad plan. Getting into the habit of testing directions is a good one.
Personality tests tell you who you are. Job boards show you what is available. Coaches advise you. OffLadder helps you find out by trying.

Most people can name about twenty jobs. OffLadder widens that, including work that is only now taking shape as AI changes what people are paid to do.

Every direction comes with an experiment small enough to finish this week. Not a course about the work. A small piece of the work.

After each try you record which part you liked and which part you avoided. That is the evidence a career decision should rest on.

Update instead of committing
Your directions change as you learn. Changing your mind with evidence is the point, not a failure of nerve.
Who it is for
- Students aged 13 to 18 choosing subjects, with a separate, gentler register for younger teenagers.
- University students and early-career people looking past the obvious graduate routes.

What we will not do
- Tell you we have found your one perfect career. Nobody can do that honestly.
- Publish a confident list of AI-proof jobs. We do not know, and neither does anyone else.
- Require an account before you see anything useful. Three questions, then your first read.
- Sell your answers. What you tell OffLadder is used to help you explore, and nothing else.
